About the Game
Bound by Night is an adult Visual Novel set in the modern world with supernatural elements. It includes six core characters as well as five patron-sponsored characters, all of whom are romanceable. The story combines elements of the the psychological horror and erotic genres, with explicit sex scenes between men and dominant/submissive relationships that can evolve over the course of the story.
Bound by Night has its own mythology around the supernatural elements. It takes place in a world just like ours -- without magic -- but in which vampires and werewolves exist. Over the course of the story, the main character will learn how these creatures came to be and how much more dangerous they could become.
Who are the Characters?
The six core characters plus two patron-sponsored characters have already been introduced, and three more patron-sponsored characters are waiting in the wings. The core characters consist of primary and secondary protagonists (both human), a vampire, a werewolf, and two supporting characters.
Alex is in the lead role. He just finished medical school, moved to a new city, and has begun his residency. Overworked and overwhelmed, he's questioning whether this is really what he wants in life when his boss orders him to take a night off and... get off.
Nick is the secondary POV character and parts of the story are told from his perspective with RPG choices for dialogue and character interaction. He is a little older than Alex, works as a detective for the city police force but moonlights as a vampire hunter. Whereas Alex is the naïve newcomer unfamiliar with the supernatural, Nick is the jaded veteran.

So, I will preface this with the fact that these issues seemed to resolve upon restart and I did grab a copy of the log file (not sure if it was too late, though), but I was experiencing two bugs - the cabin scene (just after Alex has a panic attack), and the first meeting in Mayhew's tower.
For the cabin - despite multiple attempts - keeping it serious with Nick and Connor, turning off that one little setting that would indicate a certain interest, etc., and selecting a majority of the vampire influence settings (playing as wary but open minded, still getting vampire influence specific dialogue it would seem) - Alex was always greeted by Connor when he wakes up. Since this was a file where I want to try and romance Mayhew, the aim is to have Seth there when Alex wakes up instead. I was planning to keep trying different combinations, but I remembered the old 'turn it on and off again' method to fix things and that did resolve them.
The second one, I only noticed because of the first (I realised it was an additional oddity in all the skipping). Although I was selecting the options of 'I'll help you with this, but I can't promise more than that', and, 'I may in time' (in response to Mayhew asking if Alex trusts him), Mayhew told Alex to go home - and Alex woke up at the tower the next morning with Paolo instead of at his flat with Maxine.
Again, these issues did resolve when I restarted the game, so I'm assuming the issue was local/session based rather than a general issue in the code, but it couldn't hurt to be informative.

Just finished my first playthrough and I'm so sad that I'm all caught up to the current chapter. I'm shocked how invested I became in the characters, plot, and lore because I admit that I only came to look at the boys. Great visual novel!

One downside, at least for me, is forced sex with certain individuals that I didn't want to engage sex with. Other than that, amazing "game".
Other than the opening scene, any thing you're finding as having been forced/required?

There are several "forced" interactions. Don't get me wrong, to each their own, of course, but for me personally, would like to choose myself which characters I prefer. Other than that, like I said before, great game and definitely worth playing! I'm a huge fan of vampire related stories, movies and such, so this was fun to play through!

Honestly my favorite character so far has definitely been Ronan, and I know by the walkthrough he probably will become an option at some point, but I really can't wait to start romancing him, especially after rejecting Nick and Connor. Know I probably won't see it soon with them traveling to Europe and Ronan left behind, but I desperately need him as a Love Interest.
Apparently I'm a horndog.....horn..wolf? Every time I begin a new playthrough, I tell myself: "This time I'll try to be as celibate as possible, aside from story driven scenes; like when you meet Kai for the first time." Then I proceed to try to screw EVERY guy possible. I want so badly to be the meat in a Luke and Ronan sandwich..... EGAD! Maybe Santino and Seth! I might belong in a deli case. XD

I'd like to ask if there will be an option for a romance with Mayhew without becoming his thrall? At the ending of chapter 17 I felt like all romance was gone. Out of curiosity, I checked the acceptance route, and oh my god, it was wonderful and sweet, but it's not exactly what I want. My heart broke when he started talking about the curse, because no matter how hard they will try, Alex will only become more subservient to him and suffer torture every time they disagrees.
I know the equality issue is debatable here due to Mayhew's age, power, and connections, but Alex at least has most of his autonomy here, which I'd like to preserve as well as his humanity.
Would there be an option for them together, even without sex? I'd love to see Mayhew call Alex "beloved" without being his subordinate 😩
The game is very nice, but I have to admit that the characters aren't to my taste (I like muscular or big daddies). So Santino is the only character I really like. Will there be more content with him, or a romantic path?
You're speaking my language. I have the same feeling for Santino, but it's kind of unfair that he is the only one, as for big daddies, it could be possible. Since you can have sex with monsters, why not have sex with the aliens? Silver daddies may work as well.

This game is on another level. Aside from some very minor bugs and it being not yet completed, I would say this is the best game I've played from this platform. The characterization, especially of Mayhew, Ronan, and Paolo, is so choice and nuanced. I keep finding new bits of information even on my third playthrough! I will be eagerly following this game's development, and while I wish I could play it all right now, I know no matter how long it takes it will be worth it.
Played the game to bust, but got too invested in the story. So nuanced & so interesting . Can't wait to see where this goes. Which sadly could take 5 more years, but totally worth it
I'm having a problem unlocking the option to offer Nick a spare bed. I followed all the steps in the Walkthrough but it's not working, can someone help me?
This has happened to me before honestly idrk what you have to do but for me I just replayed it a bunch of times from the beginning clicking different choices maybe try that?

Nick has to be hostile to Ronan at the beginning (threaten him when pinned and keep pushing for information), plus Alex has to resist the vampire's influence until after he sleeps with Nick.
I can't wait for the day when my grumpy puppy falls for me. I do love what feels like a slow burn with Ronan though. I usually choose to not take advantage of him when he's chained up cause I love the little flirt from him later on. 😜

This is just to inform you that come of the end of May, I may stop supporting your game and you on Patreon.
I really do NOT want to do this, but Patreon made some change to how one logs into their site and, since the beginning of May, it will NOT recognize my email address. So now I cannot log into my Patreon account and I cannot get to any of the pages of the Creators I support, such as yourself, and your content there.
I contacted Patreon about this weeks ago and they have admitted they caused this problem, but they seem in no hurry to fix it, assuming they are actually even trying to correct it.
Since I cannot access your content on Patreon, there is no point in my making payments there and I will just have to buy or get what I can here on Itch.io.
I'm very disappointed by this since I have been a Patreon supporter since September 2022. I've given them until this Friday, May 30th, to solve this, but if they won't or can't fix this problem by then, well, I'll contact my bank and have Stop Payments put on all the Creators I support.

In this new build even If I reject mayhew I still get his bj dream scene. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
I figured out what I did wrong. I was playing a save in mayhew route then I went to main menu and started a new save and the game acted like I was still in mayhew route. I remember this hapenning before, so It is an old bug.
The writing is so consistently good, I'm on the edge of my seat with every update!
I think I'm doing something wrong though--does anyone know how to select preferences or is the character just meant to be verse and it fluctuates depending on partner?
I guess it's more realistic that way, but it would be nice to know which characters are interested in what. Some scenes kind of don't seem to match the previous decisions I made in a given playthrough, and the writing does suggest that they may be related to past behaviour, so not sure where I messed up along the way.

Actually got into this game before knowing anything about WoD and became obsessed with Hunter the Parenting like a year ago, only like a couple month ago did I finally found out this game is inspired by the WoD IP. Can't believe I didn't make the connection sooner!
Glad you're enjoying the game and the next update will be coming to Itch in about 3 weeks. Just to be clear, no direct relationship to the WoD IP although I absolutely love it. It has certainly inspired some concepts and I've tried to give it a nod here and there out of respect. I'm currently playing a Setite/Minister in a tabletop game, and got my introduction to WoD through a first edition Garou (Child of Gaia) I played for about a year.
I can't wait for the new update!
And yes, I was gonna say, justice for my beloved wolves! I'm always team werewolf in every setting so I'm saddened to see that in this story werewolves are created by the elders and even "bloodbonded" to them lol.
But in all seriousness, I think you nailed it with the whole "ignorance" theme that makes WoD so cool. I think even a lot of new canon WoD IPs like Hunters 5E failed to employ this "ignorance" to really emphasize the horror and suspense of a WoD story. I'm kinda glad I played this game before I knew about WoD cuz the story was so interesting, the plots just kept luring me in, and now rereading it after knowing about WoD gives a different kind of enjoyment where I go "Uhhhhh~ so this is what's might be happening".
Anyways thanks for making this game, like I said one of my favorites here on Itch and probably among all the story based games I've played (Dare I say I think it's better than "Night Road"?). I'm yapping alot and I'm not sure if I'm making sense, I'd play the "English isn't my first language" card but I honestly speak it better than my mother tongue now so lmao..

is there gonna be more content where alex is taking lead in the scenes (topping). i would love to see something that if you get to the better side of mayhew that you get more power and influence within his ranks to do things to the other subjects of mayhew like paolo.
ps: i completely love this game the mix between mythology and maffia.

Im still trying to figure out what Paolo's look meant towards Alex as alex was following luke out of his office in chapter 16 part 2 I hope Paolo isn't going to try and harm Alex in the upcoming chapter because I love seeing them together

At present, no, that's the extent of it. It's on my "wish list" but honestly has not been high on my list of priorities. I've wanted very much to give that acknowledgment to the bi-fans of BBN but I've been pretty focused on keeping the story moving forward in the time I have. If it does happen, it will probably need to be a collab with another developer; I honestly haven't had sex with a women in, well, probably longer than most of the BBN fans have been alive. :D It would be a challenge to write.
thats completely fine, the game is great with or without it, i was just curious because of thhat one scene.
If there is a scene with a woman, I'm almost sure I would stop playing, or put an option to skip, I hate sex scenes with women
